Novotel Phu Quoc Resort - Family & Business trip hotel - Thanh That Temple

On a busy street in Duong Dong City you’ll find one of the more unusual temples on Phu Quoc Island. If you are staying at Novotel Phu Quoc Resort, then a visit to Duong Dong City is not to be missed and the Thanh That Temple is definitely worth an hour of your time during your family vacation.

This is a working Cao Dai temple, one of the most unusual religions in Vietnam. It dominates the view rising above the surrounding small shop houses. The sign above the entrance says “Toa Thanh Tay Ninh” and the temple’s twin towers are painted in the brightest of colours and full of intricate details.

Built in 2008, the ground floor is home to a family who looks after the place. In the middle of the day you’ll find several people sleeping in hammocks as the family’s pet dogs roam around freely. The prayer room is on the first floor and can be reached by two tiny staircases to the sides.
